When I have an architectural photography job which brings me to a school library, I usually have fun with arranging books so that they enhance my picture. I’ll generally choose books for their size and their color. If a book has a trunk page with vivid photos, I will open it to them. I’ll stand books up along the countertop and rearrange the shelves. Of course, I only get to do these things if the librarian is no longer present! You can imagine the librarian’s consternation when she finds out that the order of the Dewey decimal system has been disobeyed for an architectural photograph.
