Libraries in our schools can also function as a classroom. My school days are long behind me, but when visiting schools on an architectural photography assignment, I’ve noticed that areas in some libraries, particularly found in elementary schools, are designed to accommodate groups of students in an informal way. The story time area is what I call it—a mini ampitheater, or carpet covered stairs, generally set in a semi circular pattern—and when it is filled with kids, it’s an instant classroom.
